I haven’t seen a more worthy example of “this bitch” in a while.
Ignorance is dangerous. Ignorance involving medicine and health is particularly dangerous. Especially if incomplete and unverified (by way of evidence-based, scientifically-repeatable, peer-reviewed means) “information” about both is spread by a public figure who should know better than to talk unsubstantiated “facts” without further research.
Honestly, Jenny McCarthy and her anti-vaccine vitriol irk me as well, but….it’s Jenny McCarthy. Far fewer more people take her seriously than they can/do Bachmann, who is a politician and has legislative power and clout. I get that Bachmann was trying to make a point about Perry mandating Gardasil to all Texan 12-year-old girls (which I don’t agree with either) but THAT was the angle she should’ve taken and focused on….NOT unproven, anecdotal, potentially fear mongering attempts at talking about a science she doesn’t understand. It’s a completely irresponsible move and if she has a shred of tact and respect for the scientific and medical community (and its many patients), she’ll publicly retract what she said.
tbh, this makes me somewhat grateful that the internet and mass media did not exist in the 1950s. We’d probably never even get close to eradicating polio.
(on a less rage-y note, also love that Penn be snatchin’ wigs and takin’ names per usual)
Wtf is this Hart of Dixie bullshit? Can they not afford a medical fact checker?
Against better judgment, I decided to tune into the new CW medical drama (lol….yeah ikr) starring Rachel Bilson, “Hart of Dixie”.
It’s barely been 10 minutes and already I’m pissed. If she really did get a residency position at a NY hospital (or any US hospital for that matter)—it doesn’t just go away or vanish into thin air without explanation. Residency matching is a grueling process that’s practically signed in blood—it cannot be voided without warning.
But that’s not even the most egregious mistake. In what world can a first year intern expect to land a cardiothoracic fellowship?! Girl child, you are a PGY-1. There are PGY-5s that cannot land a fellowship of any kind let alone one in cardiothoracics.
ffs that’s not even something you need a super specialist consult for. It’s the most basic knowledge of medical education in the US, which some producers should’ve at least Cliff Noted before putting this mess on television.
I’m calling it now: canceled within the season. Rachel, I like you but girl no.
